  • Scrappage scheme making me feel ill . . . .

What an absolute joke this scheme is, perfectly good cars are being minced every day.

Once they are gone theres no going back, take a look at this perfectly servicable old cav sporthatch. I would run that no problem

      Its a Bloody Joke
Local dealers have a T Plate Corsa Sport 1.6-16v in at the moment, one owner from new, 58.000 miles, air-con, full service history & its mint but its going for scrap as the owner traded it in for a new Corsa.

If it wasnt a scrapper i could have had it for £500

It just aint right! Just goes to show that the powers that be have no regard for classic items and no time to think about preserving history.

No matter.......they are OK travelling in their near too or new gas guzzlers!

The Nissan dealers up here are now accepting up to 51reg as part of the scheme!!

That cav is a bit strange though, I assumed the breakers HAD to destroy it and weren't allowed to sell parts on.

Once the certificate of destruction is processed, the chassis number is recorded and cannot be returned to the road.

Doesn't stop you "reshelling" a good solid car though, especially if you've bought a rotten old car to use as a donor vehicle.

It's been happening for years with rally cars, all them "old" MK2 Escorts and Sunbeams still going strong????

                  I think NOT!

This just came in today at Lookers Ellesmere Port.
Calibra SE, 1992 with only 51.000 miles & one owner, full Leather trim & service history. Bit of rust but nothing that an enthusiast could get sorted.
A very Straight & Genuine car which will be scrapped

you should see some of the cars we have been given under the scrappage scheme.

we had a absolutely mint original corsa gsi in white on an l reg come in.i did ask about buying it until i found out it was on the scrappage scheme.is a real shame that good servicable cars are just being thrown away.

i could understand it if u traded a real shed in
no longer working for vaux parts.wahoo!!

Some good stuff getting scrapped, seeing that cally hurts after hunting for one for months

Secondhand dealers are now struggling to find stock as well, so robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak.

I believe the government fund runs out soon, predicted at the end of this month, so hopefully no more future classics will be cubed
