your car has to be delivered within 4 months.if its delivered in 4 months and 1 day you have to pay back the £2k scrappage allowance

I assume that the dealer will be claiming the scrappage allowance by sending them to a breakers.....but is the payment only given when DVLA receive a scrap notification (yellow bit I think...may be red) of the V5c.
What I'm getting at is whether enthusiast like us could buy the "scrap" from the dismantler before it gets squished....would this stop the payments?

Not that I care whether the dealer gets its pound of flesh, just saving some perfectly decent or rare vehicles from the scrapyard in the sky
The dealer gets a certificate of destruction when the car is picked up by whoever is handling the scrappage of the car. And no you couldnt buy the car from the dismantler before its crushed.

All cars from our local dealer go to Liverpool, engine ripped out then the car goes straight in the crusher to a nice cube shape.
They had a Veccy CDX in a few months ago on a T plate, 77k from new with all the nice goodies & could'nt have any parts off it

Why do they keep using Vauxhalls?
This is outside our local Volvo dealers

Thats an old Cavalier Cesaro. By the looks of it they've 'added' a few dints to make it look worse than it was as they look very new on the wing & rear end
